WEEK OF OCTOBER 15th:
PROPORTIONS, RATIOS 8.3A, 8.3B
Monday: SWBAT use proportion boxes to solve unit rates and percents.
**Homework (back of classwork page--solving ratio problems)
Tuesday: SWBAT use tables and graphs to represent proportional relationships
**Homework (textbook: page 266 #1-28) REMEMBER, ANSWER TO ODDS IN BACK!
Wednesday: BAYTOWN FIELD TRIP WITH ARTIST BOAT
Thursday: SWBAT use proportion boxes, tables, and graphs to represent a diversity of proportional relationships including scaling and similar shapes. SWBAT use vocabulary associated with proportional relationships.
**Homework (crossword puzzle, vocabulary practice)
Friday: QUIZZITO!!!!
What we've learned:
- Comparing and ordering rational numbers (integers, fractions, decimals, and percents!)
- Scientific notation (it puts a decimal in motion!)
- Problem solving with rational numbers (integers, fractions, decimals, and percents!)
- Estimating irrational numbers (square roots, pi)
- Writing proportional equations, and solving them
What is to come????
- Pythagorean Theorem
- Evaluating algebraic expressions
- Measurement (area, surface area, volume, etc.)
- Geometry and spatial reasoning
- Patterns
- Probability (Michael Vick will probably regret that he financed pit bull fights)
- Mean, Median, Mode (Measures of Central Tendency)
- Statistics
